THIS IS NOT:

An artist looking to utilize your management company to buy TikTok packages, media packages, or other promotional items.

A band that will give in to someone else's artistic vision of what we should look or sound like.

Another acoustic singer covering the same old, tired songs everybody has been playing in bars for years.

PAYMENT

Pay for the Booking Manager is 100% commission-based.

Payment for booked performances is split EVENLY between each band member and the Booking Manager (If five band members perform a $1,200 gig, the Band Manager would make $20).

TO APPLY

Email your answers to these questions to manager@garrettsmithmusic.com.

1. What interests you in booking performances for Garrett Smith? (Not asking about online work or easy schedule. Asking about booking this band specifically)

2. Do you have prior experience in managing artists or bands? If so, which band/artist(s)? If not, what similar experience do you have?

3. Garrett and the Band Manager will assign each Booking Manager a weekly list of venues to call and email each week. Recently, this has contained 12-15 venues. If this is not your only job, can you dedicate that time to making these contacts? (Keep in mind that some of these venues require several follow-up calls during the week)

4. Are you comfortable making cold calls and follow-up calls?

5. I’m an employee from a music festival, and I say to you, “We took a look at Garrett Smith, and he doesn’t have the social media numbers we’re looking for.” Convince me to book Garrett Smith anyway.

6. If a bar manager or other venue contact plays hard-to-get, or the person answering the phone continuously says, “We’ll leave a message for them,” what creative method would you utilize to get that person on the phone? (Don’t be afraid of a wrong answer. Garrett once told a bar employee on the phone that his band was “Garrett Smith & the Health Department” to get the manager to call back ASAP).

7. On a scale of 1 to 10, how familiar are you with the Texas Music Scene? (Kevin Fowler, Bri Bagwell, Casey Donahew, etc.)

8. On a scale of 1 to 10, how familiar are you with the Dirt Rock Music Scene? (Moonshine Bandits, The LACS, Demun Jones, etc.)

9. Garrett’s philosophy on meetings: If a meeting could have been an email, it will be an email. If personnel do not respond to emails, they become inconvenient meetings. And no meeting should ever last more than an hour. And never smack food or gum. Respecting people’s time is very important. (A) How do you respect people’s time? (B) What do you expect of people in return, as far as respecting your time?

10. Of the four that are released, which is your favorite Garrett Smith music video, and why?

11. The payment for performances is an equal split between each performer, the Band Manager, and you. Every cent is earned. You take from it what you put into it. Are you willing to work for commission?

12. Due to unprofessional departures from prior Booking Managers, there is a $200 professional courtesy deposit required upon hire that Garrett Smith is required by contract to return to you when you provide a two-week’s notice prior to leaving this position. If you depart from this job without notice, or are fired from your duties, that deposit will go toward making up for lost bookings and contacts. Are you able and willing to make this deposit upon hire?

13. Are you reliable enough to respond to texts and emails within 24 hours without being reminded? (Even when there’s a family emergency? Because unfortunately, past employees have fabricated emergencies to justify poor response rates, and we do eventually find out).

14. If there is a team meeting call, and you make yourself available, can you give it your full attention? (Being in the car on mute for a Zoom call each time can lead to falling behind on planning and missing details).

15. When can you begin?
